Osteopaths
Since graduation from the College of Osteopaths in 1998 Helen has pursued her education in several main areas of interest;
Sports Medicine, Nutrition, Women's Health, Dry Needling and Orthotics. <
It has been a natural evolution from participation in sports such as Football, Hockey, Rugby and Netball to her current specialisation: supporting "master" athletes and older sports men & women in a wide variety of sports and pursuits. Helen has been "the Physio" for the England (mens masters) hockey team for several years, accompanying them at various international events in Malaysia, Australia and Ireland.
Helen has also nurtured an interest in women's health and developed skills in the use of more gentle techniques such as Cranial Osteopathy and Visceral Osteopathy (to help the digestive and other systems of the body).
Another special interest is in the use of diet and nutrition, especially in regard to healing and recovery from injury and in helping people re-balance their body systems when "out of kilter". Symptoms of this can be reflected in the digestive, endocrine/hormonal, reproductive and all other body systems. Useful web sites for nutritional information and products are: www.purebio.co.uk
An increasing awareness of the importance of good foot biomechanics has resulted in Helen being able to prescribe individually designed orthotics (special shoe inserts).
Helen is qualified in the use of Dry Needling (western medical acupuncture). She is also a member of the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK). AK uses muscle testing to assist in diagnosis, and integrates a range of natural treatments such as osteopathy, homeopathy and nutrition to treat holistically. Further information can be found by selecting AK on our home page or by going to the ICAK web site: www.icak.co.uk
Helen also practices at the Doneecha Clinic in Southwater and in Pulborough.
